Location: Irvine, KY | Are they generating at the power plant on the lake right now? I was down there a few months ago and they had stopped, just wondering if it had started back up again?
I was thinking of making a trip down there next weekend... so any help would be appreciated.

Location: South Portsmouth, KY | I read on the tn muskie web site that their not runnin it at all this winter. i believe it had somethin to do with the economy and money.

| I've heard from several sources that with the cold weather they fired the steam plant up and guys have been catching muskys down there. Suposeddly one guy caught a 47 incher a couple days ago. good luck. |

Location: Knoxville, TN | There were some fish caught but they are getting really tough to fish when there are 12 other boats in that little area at the same time. I havent seen a fish in 3 days. |

why don't you find muskies in a different spot ? Are they ALL in that same spot?
Explore a little, find spots that are similar,........ do something different....
It drives me crazy when people fish the same spots over, and over,and over again.

| I would assume the plant started spittin' out warm water some time last week ? thought it was going to be down all winter ? sometimes defense is the best offensive ? LOL |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Ok, you two older guys( i'm 53) I understand that the warm water discharge attracts A lot of fish,,,, But.... I....can't fish the same small spot along with 12-15 other boats for long. that just drives me crazy.
There must be other areas of that lake that hold fish ! I will be down there in late March, as TVA is a good customer of mine. I'm working on getting some work there, as I already have worked for TVA in Ky. and Al. in the past.
A business trip, with a Skeeter and muskie tackle following,............... Just in case I have a week of lay over!
I offen leave Home with out the Wife, but never without the boat, or golf clubs ! She's glad to get rid of me for a few weeks anyway, For some reason I must get on her nerves,..... I don't get it.
P.S. BDavis, you have a very nice site, very nice indeed.

Reports that say the steam plant is not running this winter appear to be greatly exaggerated ... |

| BDavis has it right, tough place to be a musky down here.
Got my second 2010 MH musky in the net today. Somewhat easier than the first, but I had to count it. Wasn't much of a fight, since it was belly up when I netted it. Thought it wouldn't be a counter but it was still wiggling the fins. Evidently had some face time with some hooks, and hey, maybe some stringer time too. Not going to catch this one next year.

That sucks. Muskie education is a must. If people only knew how long it takes to grow a fish that size..... The Tn. muskie club has an up hill battle on its hands.

| Truly sad, and even worse is that it isn't that uncommon of a sight. Probably was on a stringer, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was released after BDavis told them it was an undersized fish and that between him and the law that they better let it go. Far too many fish there that are being held out of the water for several minutes, just because guys have never caught one and want to take a zillion pictures and then poke and prod at it for a while. Even if they don't intend to keep a fish their complete ignorance in handling them is killing plenty of fish. I hate to say it, but the more I see pictures of dead muskies there the more I'd wish that the TWRA would step up and close the area to fishing. It is sickening to think of letting the uneducated people out there spoil it for everyone, but for the good of the fishery, it is probably for the better. An up hill battle is a serious understatement. Kind of difficult to build interest and support for the fishery, but protect it from stuff like this at the same time. |

Location: Warroad, Mn | The lake has great potenial, but there's lots of work to be done. The TWRA is being quite proactive with this and as of March 1st the legal limit on Melton Hill will be 50".
The "Hot Hole" is a real consern for the TWRA, but it's a great fishing spot for many species of fish not only muskies. Much more education is needed in proper release of muskies. It's a slow process, but as muskies become more available, more people learn about them.
They hope they can get the folks to read the regulations, and learn a little more about how to handle fish of this size.
The TWRA is becomming more and more interested in promoting muskies in the state of Tennessee, and I expect good things to happen.
Heading out in the morning with firstsixfeet, hope we can find a live one!
