Posts: 422 | For years now I have noticed that some of the Lowrance and Eagle units appear the same. Some of them had the same look, same buttons, and same specs. Were the Eagles made by lowrance or vice versa, and were any one of them better than the other, and are the Eagle units still any good? Craig R.

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Navico owns both Lowrance and Eagle. Typically, the units are very similar, if not the same but with a different name. Eagle units are just as good and come with the lower price. Any of the Lowrance sonar/gps combos are networkable, the Eagle units are not networkable, that is one of the main difference of the sonar/gps combos. Also, Eagle only offers units in the small 3.5 and 5 inch screen display, no larger units. Good units, yes, better price, yes!

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | What I mean by this is, you cannot share waypoints or other sonar and gps information between units or hook up a ethernet connection(yellow connection on the Lowrance units) so you can switch back and forth between your choice of transducer(meaning your ducer on your trolling motor and the one on your transom).

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | As stated the Eagle & Lowrance are made by the same company. The major difference in the two is the Lowrance has more fine tuning capabilities. If you want a basic unit and you rarely touch the buttons, the Eagles are fine, if you what to go from manual setting to a certain adjustment or mode, then the Lowrance will do that better than the Eagle (if the Eagle can do that at all). Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | I have rub Eagle units for years and loved them. Yes they are almost identical to the Lowarnce but with the price break. The one down side as TJ mentioned is the Networking between the units. As far as being able to fine tune and customize on the Eagle I do not see that as a issue. I have been able to go into my menu and adjust and tweak, fine tune things they way I would like them to read. I would not hesitate to get another Eagle unit again and will easliy consider it for the next boat. I don't think you would be disappointented in either unit. The only suggestion I would have is to get one as clear and detailed as you can afford. Both very good units. It is like Chevy and GM or Ford and Mercury. Same thing with a different name and features.
