I am looking for a good line counter reel that has a loud clicker(for my old ears) but it also needs a good drag. I would be using this for sucker fishing and not trolling

Diawa Sealine series have a great clicker, but I don't think the drag is that smooth. Maybe the couple I have are the exception? Can Pikemaster pimp out Sealines?

I can upgrade the drag to a set of CARBONTEX DRAG WASHERS for around $15.00 - $20.00, U will have more top end and smooth.
PS I'll out till May right now on reels.

Tekota....$170.00 for a best in class reel is cheap IMHO....handles all your musky needs. plenty of other decent option but when the best can be had for sub $200.00 . why not jump all over it. I have fought lengthy battles with big sturgeons on mine and have never been let down

I had my anti reverse blow out on a brand new Tekota by a snagged pike.

Yes and they charged me for the repair. I had the reel for a couple weeks when that happened. I hope to have no issues with it from here on out... how does a reel break trolling anyway?

Are the tekota clickers as loud as the daiwa's? The reason I ask is because the clicker on my 400te is not very audible.

I run both the Takota's and the Sealines and the Sealine has the louder of the two.
Both are good reels, the Diawa is cheeper but i feel the Takota is smoother and better drag. If you can live without a counter the Abu 7000's blow both of them away!
