How did the Muskies treat you this weekend?

Any good stories, big fish, or new video?

Let's see 'em.

I'm up in the Vilas/Iron Co. area....have only had one bite in 2 and a half days of fishing so far. Probably going to give Papoose Lake a try tonight, and possibly The Turtle Flambeau Flowage tomorrow.....

Been throwing everything at them, depthraiders, suicks, bulldawgs, bucktails, row trolling suckers, and not getting anything.

How is everyone else doing?

And does anyone have any experience on the Flowage?

Hit Boom Lake in Rhinelander yesterday. Dragging two suckers and casting. Nothing on the casting part (bulldawgs, gliders, jake, grandma) Had one small one pick up and drop the sucker about 4 times. Had one grab my 18" sucker and run. Alas, no hookset on the rig. Pulled the whole rig out of the sucker. Still exciting and right at moonset.

Got 5 with the whole fam damily in the boat. 1/2 Nelson rig went 3 for 3 yesterday.

Kids are learning a ton about catch & release, little Jack wants to keep them as pet's but understands that they just want to go back home, after some explaining..

We were only out until Noon as I promised..

I was visiting family in Florida last week.
We got out around Marco Island on Thursday and Friday.
Thursday we fished the Mangroves. We caught 7 Jack Corvals, 25 snook, and 4 Snappers. We lost more than we caught!
Friday we were out about 10 miles in 5'-8' seas. The Spanish Mackerel were around us all afternoon. We boated 30 and lost 3 or 4 times that many due to the Mackerel bite offs, a school of Bull Sharks, some big Cobia, and one Goliath Grouper. My partner boated a 6' Bull Shark.
I had a real nice Mackerel bit in half at boatside by a 12' Bull Shark. I upsized my tackle and used the half Mackerel for bait. One shark broke the line, another straightened out the hook. I again upsized my tackle using a 30" Mackerel for bait and hooked the Goliath Grouper. I might as well have tried to pull up the Titantic, I would have had more success than trying to move that Grouper. The Captain said that the Grouper had been harassing this spot for the last two weeks and was over 500+ pounder.

Wow Steve, sounds like you had one heck of trip! Now only if you could have landed that Grouper! Any pictures?

The spike next to the hook that was straightened out, we initially thought was a research tag and turned out to be a Stingray stinger that apparently was the last act of a shark lunch!
In one picture the Grouper was going back down to a wreck in spite of both the Captain & my best efforts.
Even 2' long Jack Corvals fought harder than muskies that would be twice as long!
If anyone can get a chance to fish saltwater, you have to go for it!

Everything is supercharged in the salt, for sure. Sounds like you had a great time, Steve.
Fished a local lake yesterday and stuck a 38 and a 35. We'll eventually see a few 4 footers out of here. Maybe a 50" or two.

Fished 5 half days on what used to be my fav fall lake. No eyes no muskies. The last 2 years have been horrible on a lake that has been predictable for the last 20 years. It's been going down the last 6 ,7 years but before that it had a fantastic sucker bite. Only saw 1 fish but at least it was a 50 incher. Followed a sucker up to the boat. Saw a lot of suspenders on the locater so tried for them with no luck either. Really sucks, used to depend on this lake in the fall.

This weekend I got a 42 on a sucker and had two other fish drop suckers before I could get a hookset. I also raised five fish on bucktails but couldn't get any of them to hit. Water temps ranged from 42 to 45 degrees.

Two smaller fish on ciscos Sunday (36-38"). Saturday, we had one take the cisco within 10 minutes of moving to a spot for moonset, but as I was getting the camera ready, it stripped us clean. Might be back up there this coming weekend....big girls have to show themselves sometime.

My boyfriend and I went out on the Bay of Green Bay both days this weekend. Landed a 47" beauty Sunday morning around 8:30. Will post a pic when I figure out how.

I was on the Chip for the first time this weekend, I got my first ski on the Fly! 42" nice dark looker, missed a couple. I think I got the bug for this, After catching over 100 skies on a bait caster, I have the feeling like my first one back 9 years ago when I got hooked. Must try!

I hit a small numbers lake and proceeded to lose 4 fish in a row on suckers. Boat partner got one just under 35", and we each had a follow.

Fished the IMTT on Saturday on Pewaukee and 21 fish were caught. 5 teams doubled and big fish was only 42.5"s. But the lake continues to rock on suckers, I hope this season never ends because there's a 50 out there with my name on it and I would sure like to end this season by putting one in the net.

Had an awesome weekend with The Dude and Bri Guy. The cisco eaters were tough on Friday so we decided to fish another lake on Saturday. We put 9 fish in the boat Saturday and lost 2 more at boatside including an upper 40's. Had a double header which included a 40" Tiger for The Dude. 5 ate sausages and 4 ate rubber. Thanks for the memories guys!!

Fished both Saturday and Sunday. One fish in the boat on the way back to the ramp on Sunday. Great fish.
