| Was just wondering how many people out there are catching walleyes while musky fishing? This past weekend I caught 2 on deep diving crankbaits. One was 30" and the other was 21". The cool thing about the 30" walleye was I caught it 10 ft down in 20 ft of water![:praise:] | |||

| I always catch a few 'eyes when castng for muskie. The majority of them I catch are in the early part of the season usually fishing shallow weeds with small twitchbaits. This year I caught more than most years, probably because of the cold water and late spring. I do occasionally nail some off the rocks using cranks in the summer and fall. The fish I do run into are usually all quality fish, unfortunately the fight is less than spectacular on muskie gear. One of the best fights I had this year however was a 19 inch smallie that I snagged in the back with a 6" grandma. | |||

| Last year I thought I should fish the PWT when I was sticking three good eyes for every muskies during the summer. I trolling lots of small cranks when I am out there and they are all over me at times. But my biggest walleye weapon is a Depth Raider. Big eyes love them trolled suspended on my area lakes. I have taken fish up to 29" on that bait. We put a eye in the boat in Canada last week speed trolling spinnerbaits over cabbage at 4mph....go figure.[:bigsmile:] | |||

| I didn’t catch it, but I had around a 10-pounder follow up my R-n-G a couple weekends ago. Maybe she wanted it for sex though, it was walleye pattern bait. lol[;)] I don’t think walleyes fall for figure 8’s, too bad. | |||
| |||
| Here is a bonus Pewaukee walleye from 07/13/02. This fish went 25.5 and was released to fight another day. | |||
| |||
| nxtwrldrcd, walleyes do fall for the figure 8!! Krappie caught a 28" walleye last year or the year before on the figure 8. I have also had a few miss my crankbait on the figure 8. | |||

| Yes a matter of fact I did have a really nice walleye eat my Phantom this year. He was 27 1/2 inches long and a girth of 17.5 inches weighing around 9 pounds. The story behind this catch was a little wierd. This same day I had around 20 follows around the same area and kept coming back on the spot doing about everything I coudl think of to get this fish to strike and become active. It did miss a few times on gliders and topwaters but other than that they just followed to the boat and when I had hooked this walleye I thought for sure I finally got the muskie I was looking for but It wouldn't come up as easy to the surface as a muskie would it took close to 30 - 45 seconds to get it to the surface. It was exciting none the less. | |||

| One of my friends got three over 30" on the Goon three weeks ago in the Western Arm on Violent Strike spinnerbaits. Not exactly a Walleye presentation, but proves walleyes are as stupid as muskies.....almost.[:0] | |||

| I caught a big waleye on the flambeau flowage a couple weeks ago on a TM shad tail. I did not measure but was well over 25". The neat thing about walleyes is they really comit to a lure. They hit harder than alot of musky do. I would post the pic but I have no idea how, even though I look like the biggest retard in the world in that picture. | |||

| I lost a nice walleye once on a Stomper but usually catch rockfish, L-mouths + smallies on ski baits...+ the vast majority of these fish are big. WiXXXXX were the other way around![;)] *The wi + 5 xs were wish and it...stupid dog..... | |||

| In my pre-musky fishing day's I was big into walleye fishing. Back then my personal best was a 8 pound 28 incher. While musky fishing I have boated 3 larger. One on a crankbait (trolled over deep water) and the other two casting jerkbaits. | |||
| |||
| I don't catch many goggle eyes, but do get a few when casting for ski. The only one this year popped an RnG only 2 feet down over 30 feet of water. What's up with that??? | |||

| Have caught about a half dozen walleyes on musky baits this season. Most were on 6" Slammers, got a 26 incher on a orange Reef Hawg. Last season, during the 3rd week of June, I caught 5 walleyes, from 23" to 29", in one day! All hit a 6" Red Dragon Slammer. It was the hot bait for walleyes that day. (Does OK on the muskies, too!!!) Good Fishing, Dave Dorazio www.bootails.com | |||

| Wow, Dorazio is alive! Probably in for his noon nap! Musta been one heck of a guide season so far. Haven't heard a peep from you since the opener up your way! How's things been going? Any husky muskies this year? I'm trying to get a work trip up your way. I'll let you and GregM know as soon as I know> Tight Lines, Shep[:sun:] | |||

| Biggest ones i have goten were 28" on a Jerko and a 25" on a burt. Both crushed the bait. The 28" was the biggest one for the week and that was with about 2 million walleye fishermen in camp. | |||
| |||
| Yup, walleyes will hit on a figure 8. I had a 24" take a spinnerbait at boatside. Steve @ G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods. http://www.herefishyfishy.com | |||
