| I'm not sure what you have to work with on the ranger, but my plans for when I get time are pretty simple for a tiller casting deck. Make the casting deck whatever length you want. Under the platform is the seat you sit on to drive the boat. Basically it would be hinged in the middle so that you could flip it open and sit in the seat and drive. I'm not sure where I'll put it, but I want to add a pedastal seat for the rear deck. The top part of the attached picture is the driving position, and the bottom is the casting position. Posts: 516 Location: Kildeer, IL | I made a casting deck for my Tuffy, and made it in the shape of a U. This give you plenty of room to stand on the edges while casting, and it also gives you room for your legs. The lid is split in half with a support in the middle. This is so you don't have to remove the seat every time you want to get at your lures under the deck. The right half of the deck fits 6 of the big plano boxes. | a few years back i had that exact boat ('89 680T i believe) and did some refurbishing to include recarpeting and adding a rear casting deck. i put a post hole in the deck for the seat so that i could pop the seat out and set it on the floor when someone was fishing on the back deck. that probably doesn't meet the "rules" about driver's seats, but when running a smaller tiller boat like that it worked fine and was plenty safe. these links will take you to the details: recarpet: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=14... rear casting deck: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19...
