Greetings Fellow Musky Addicts!
Where should I locate the trim switch on the boat with a tiller outboard? Opinions and reasons for the location are sought.
Thanks!

On the starboard side of the rig's sidewall where your right hand would easily and comfortably reach, or use a foot trim and set it up by the foot you would be most comfortable using.

I had the trim switch on the floor of my skeeter ( it has a tiller ) I had to step off the back platform , with a fish on at the time. Steped right on the switch and nearly broke my ankle. I removed that switch and installed a new one to the grab bar on the starboard side. Works alot better for me .

I had a pre-rigged Bass Tracker for a few years and it had a trim on the motor itself, on the throttle(it was a console not tiller) and also had a trim switch mounted up front where I ran the electric.

My current boat, a big fat Lund, does not have the up front trim switch addition.

I really miss it. That trim up by the tiller was the one of the most user friendly riggings on any boat I have had. So many times I go in shallow to get out a snag and it really saves hopping around the boat, by being able to raise the big motor from the front.

I have mine rigged under my seat where I can reach it with my right hand while running. It's just behind the front edge next to my right thigh. Sit in a chair and imagine that set up.......works nice.

My Ranger Cherokee had it mounted on the front of the motor, and I hated it. I had to costantly take my eyes off of the water to find it, which isn't safe, and I constantly was fighting with my back trying to find a comfortable position to do it from, but I never forund one. My console is a God send for my back ailments. Now I can drive without being a contortionist.
