Posts: 516 Location: Kildeer, IL | I just moved from Mount Prospect to Kildeer, and my neighbors tell me that there are a lot of Muskie waters in and around Lake Zurich. Is any of this water public? Has anyone fished these lakes? My neighbor said that he has fished the lake just north of Cuba Road and Old McHenry (near CF Industries). Hopefully he’ll take me with next time. Feel free to PM me if you have any information.

Posts: 516 Location: Kildeer, IL | I never knew they existed. There are a lot of puddles in the area that have muskie in them. How would you ever know that unless you lived in the area? Plus, I believe Kildeer residents can get onto Lake Zurich. After all, most of our taxes go to Lake Zurich. I've been running around to Rockford, Chain of Lakes, Gurness, etc. Now I found out that they are in my back yard. In fact, my neighbor across the street just stocked some in his pond. The pond is only 5 acres. Once they get a little bigger, maybe I'll invite you over. Or, if you keep up the sarcasm, I'll just tease you with pictures.

Posts: 7113 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I'm hoping you're right, and I'll shut it with the sarcasm. If you find success in your search, let's take my boat. 150 horses can get you across 5 acres in a hurry.

Posts: 19 | This is a good question though, because I have always wondered if there are any muskie ponds in my area that people don't know/talk about. Does anyone know of any lakes or ponds around the western chicago suburbs (naperville area) that have any muskie in them? It would be nice to make a few casts at a ski without needing to drive up into the land of cheeseheads.

Posts: 317 | I live in the area and there really isn't any secret muskie ponds around there. LZ has a very limited population of small fish. Crystal lake has some giants but it is private, and there are lot's of small lakes near Lake Villa, but those are more than 20 min away and or private.

Posts: 108 Location: Crystal Lake,Illinois 60014 | MS is right, No real secrets but very few have even healthy populations in LZ. Twin Lakes....yikes... My mother in law lives on Forrest Lake, which did get stocked with tigers years back. It is a basin lake, not much structure, lots of suspended fish. I have fished Fairfield also, I think both n/t exist there. I have fished "lake cf" , that would be the sleeper of all of them. D

Posts: 371 Location: Dixon, IL | I know some muskies stocked in Lake Zurich but I am not sure about stocked every year. Years ago that I able to fish Lake Zurich from a small resort on Rt. 12 or 14 to rent a boat to fish Lake Zurich. That's a long time ago. I like to fish Cedar Lake on Rt. 132 for muskies in early 1980's. Use rent a boat and caught some muskies and a 38 inch Tiger. So far I know that no muskies stock there for years because of lack of the public. I know Loon Lake have some muskies! Crystal Lake have some pure and tiger muskies! Mallard, Busse, Fox River, Fox Chain O Lakes, Sterling, Indepemnce Grove ( few left) and even Salt Creek from Busse Lake near Chicago. Other place I don't know!
