How long do you think it will be you will be before your able to link your ipilot through a humminbird unit?

It would be a pretty cool concept. Manage your trails and run your trolling motor through your graph.

I bet it won't be long.

I was wondering the same thing...bring up a map, mark the course you want to run on the map, press a button and bingo! Gotta be coming in the next couple years.

I talked to a Minn Kota rep, about putting the i-pilot on a powerdrive ,a couple weeks ago. I was disappointed that it would render the pedal useless. He did say that it looks around two years out for something to come out that runs from the sonar/gps unit and would be able to follow waypoints in the unit as well as follow contours of depth.

Did the rep say if it was going to be humminbird specific or will it be able to work with lowrance too?

I assume just humminbird specific.

He didn't say, I would also assume Hummingbird would be first. He didn't want to give any specific details out either. I tried. I'm in the market for a new bow-mount unit and this makes me want to get a Hummingbird so that it would be compatible. If they were smart they would let something out of the bag ,that way they might sell more hummingbird stuff now. We'll see.

Get a 'bird anyway. I still have Lowrance sonars and GPS on my boat, but have seriously considered selling them to get a SI. If that will eventually be compatible with the IPilot, even better. SI is the cats meow. Not sure what Lowrance's SI is like yet, but I know that the 'birds show some incredible detail.

That's great to hear about the 'birds and Terrova. I just placed my order for an 1157c and am STOKED to get on the water with it. Next year will be adding the SI to the console and network those critters together....maybe I'll be upgrading to a HB compatible I-Pilot as well. That'd be kick @!#$.
