Posts: 167 Location: Ontario | Hi All! I just wanted to get some opinions on creepers. I have fished a lot of different top water lures, but never tried a creeper. I see the odd post on them, but not too much talk. Is this a bait I should have in the box? If so, any suggestions of which brand? Also, with all the parts sticking out, etc. it looks like a fish could demolish these things. Are they more durable than they look? Thanks, Matty

Posts: 727 | Creepers are great right before of during night, also as a throw back bait. The kraken from tackle inustries is the only creeper I have experience with and it was good just too big for my liking.

Posts: 1287 Location: WI | Creeptonite, Lil' Creeper, and the LeLure creeper are all good. Use it the same way you would a Hawg Wobbler.

S.Killips Please note that BS Willy is not making creepers anymore. However, Monster Lures is and he is using a little heavier metal for the wings, so they won't bend so easily.

Posts: 311 Location: Ontario | They work in ON Matty. Wave Walkers, Water Spiders and the old BS Willy are the only three I have. These baits are non-existant in stores here, you will be ordering from somewhere/someone. You're on the Kawarthas, I can tell you that you'll be hitting some enormous bass on these things too. I have found the ones with the spreader bars really tough to manage at night, if there's a scrap of floating weed within a hundred yds of the bait, it will find it and foul. Jointed ones seem to rumble a little better for me than solid. Both are good. Fish eat these things, a very unique package, very different from other surface baits. Kawarthas are highly pressured, I could see you doing well on them out there. There's a sweet spot for your speed, listen to the bait as much as looking at it. Night/calm is a great time to learn them. Not many people up here use them, but they work.
