| I've always liked the side console boat, feel much more comfortable with the extra space especially in the bow when 2 people are trying to net a fish.
For those that have bigger boats with double console. Is there ever a time that extra console got in your way and you wish it wasn't there?
It's nice to have for your passenger when you are going 55 MPH+ but how is it for fishability?
Anyone have one and wish they didn't??
Thx much. |

| Always had a single console Greg but have some friends that like the single better...a LOT better, mainly for the extra room. The only reason I'd consider a double personally is for the wife, + the likelyhood of her climbing in a fast boat w/ my dumb self is virtually nil! Get some more opinions...climb in a double + walk around + picture your stuff in it, etc....[:sun:] |

| Depends a lot on the boat layout and how many people you generally fish with. More than 2 people and the console could get in the way. If the boat has a rear casting platform, that will give you more fishing room.
The 2nd console is nice for the passenger but also sheilds you when you get caught in big water with a wind from that side. I prefer the dual console boats like a Tuffy 1990 Pro series. |

| Greg,
Who was warmer in Iowa: all you guys in the single councel crestliners or Teck and I nuking across the lake behind the full windshield? Extra fishing space for more people is fine, but the reason your getting the boat is for the comfort of you and your honey. Which is going to make the 2 (and some day 5) of you happy? I think dual councels for sure and I'm a VERY big fan of full windshields. When is muskie fishing the best? When the weather is crappy and cold.
Also, taking a junebug in the head @ 60mph sucks!!!!!!! |

| Thx for the reply Treats. HAve you ever been up in the front of your boat, trying to net a biggun with 2 people and got goofeed up cuz the extra console or full windshield was in the way? Not taking into consideration passenger comfort, but ability to land ALL fish effectively from the front, have you ever had a time where you wish the extra console was not there because you needed more room?
thx much. |

| Last year while fishing the PMTT we used my partners boat that had a dual counsel. It was nice when running 50 plus mph in the rain, but I could see were it could come in the way while fishing and it takes up some rod space.
If I would go to a boat with a counsel it would be a single one |

| I have a single console boat. My wife hates it when it's cold or rains. I was sure those were the only downsides to it until spending a week in the north woods at the height of bug season. My partners shirts and faces were covered in bug splatters. Perhaps I should have slowed down [:p]
The upside is that with only a 19ft boat I have plenty of rod storage, up to six 8ft rods and another four+ 7-5" rods. I could never get 8ft rods in my boat if they were dual console. |
