For those of you who turn lures on a lathe, wondering what you are using for lathes.  Hoping to find something that will do the job for without spending a ton.

I use a grizzly table top wood lathe. Works fine for me as I mostly turn surface baits up to 10 inches. Only cost a little over a hundred dollars i think. Just do a search for grizzly on the web.
Hope this helps, Matt

Pete,

I use a Jet Mini lathe with a vega midi-duplicator. Works great for repeatable size and shape up to about 10 inches. Once you have a template the rest is a no brainer. I make my templates out of 1/4"plastic and they work perfect every time. Here are the two units I currently use.

I also use a Jet Mini Lathe. Costs a little more but built much better than the cheap ones IMO.

Rj,
How long does it take to do a bait with the duplicator? And do you use plastic to make your original, or as a template to get the general shape of the bait you will use to "copy"? I have been considering buying one of those duplicators but dont know much about them.

(Shoot me a pm if your willing as I dont want to hijack the op's thread.
