Action was heating up on some lakes near Eagle River. Fish are 'turning on' pretty good with evening and morning hours being the best. Deep weed edges and open water has been key areas for us. Bucktails and Crankbaits have been the ticket for most of our fish. Mid-day is pretty slow and the flies have been pretty annoying because they seem to be out in full force during the heat of the day. But the tent catipillar flies have been alot better last weekend than they were two weekends ago. So it should only get better with these buzzing pests.

When the fish seem to be showing up or biting make sure to hit your key areas right away. Because the feeding windows have been fast and furious. We've boated mulitple fish the last couple days fishing, but everything has been within the same hour...sometimes within the half hour.

I tossed around the topwater around a bit, but have had some limited action on it. But I will be honest, that I didn't spend alot of time throwing the topwater baits. I would only venture a guess that it should be "heating up" though. Especially how active the the fish have been as of lately. Good luck and stick a slob. You should have some pretty good luck up there when you get there.

catch ya later,
Krappie

As Krappie said the fish are really moving. I'd try shallower running stuff first since that's what has been working, but if that isn't working go deep. We caught fish both deep and shallow (in the water column), with most of the fish high in the column. Topwater should be getting better, and I plan on trying it some if I can get out this weekend in Eagle River. Good luck.
