Subject: High Water Temps....Delayed Mortality?

I spent a week on a 40k acre lake near the canadian border last week and saw temps as high as 78f. I hear temps on Illinois largest carp pond are in the low 80's. The cool side of Heidecke was 93f three weekends ago. Should we all be laying off the fish until the water temps drop? I'm not trying to stir the pot here or sound like a tree hugging alarmist but I am interested in the facts. What is the real story on this subject? Last year when water temps approached the mid 80's on an Indiana lake we fish we inquired with the DNR biologist who told us its not as much about surface water temps as it is the amount of oxgenated water in the water column.

Its something you have to watch for that is for sure.

1)Fight the fish quickly
2)Dont take photo sessions
3)Dont take the fish out of the water

LB, I have not seen mid 80's yet in indiana. mid 70's in southern wi.

One other thing to consider too. I am seeing fish really deep which tells me there is still cooler water for the fish to live. Maybe in august when the depth for fish life raises and they have to spend there time in warmer water it becomes a bigger factor.
