Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Current events are reported to the General Discussion board so anyone can follow the event from links on the front page. The PMTT St. Croix results were there for a few days after the event was over, then moved to the Tournament forum where the information is readily retrieved, even weeks or months after an event. We get over 200 new posts on the average each week, so information can end up several pages back quickly on the busier boards. Same with the Kevin Worrall Memorial, and now the Vermilion MAC. We also publish press releases as soon as we receive them as well, archived in our News section. http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/articles/09.19.2009/2582/Grant.and.... If one wishes to ask questions, comment on, or simply read about an upcoming or past event or is just looking for information on a Circuit or independent event, the Tournament forum will archive that information. Registration is required to view and post on the Tournament forum, a fully moderated section of MuskieFIRST. Anyone can login to MuskieFIRST. If you are having problems accessing the website, try using a different proxy server than asia pacific or ripe, sources of huge volumes of spam, or contact an administrator.

Posts: 157 Location: Arlington Heights, IL | Steve, Just a heads up in case you weren't aware. While that has been the case in the past, with the posts being left up on the General thread for a few days so the majority of people can read them before they get moved over to the Tournament thread, it wasn't the case with the St. Croix event. The posts were moved within hours of being posted on both days. In fact on the way home on Sunday I got a couple calls from people who thought my Final Results post had been deleted from MuskieFirst, because they saw it up there right after I had posted it, then went back a couple hours later and couldn't find it anymore, I explained that they had probably just been moved to the Tournament thread because I had noticed that my post from Saturday night had been moved over later that night. So that might be what the Musky Hunter message board comment was about, because I did get calls regarding how fast those posts were pulled from the main board and moved to the lesser viewed tournament board and some people were a little upset because if your not a register user or if you aren't logged in you can't even see that there is a Tournament thread. PS. Thanks for the comments on the Extreme post, I appreciate the kind words. Jim Stella

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | In actual fact, I moved the report back personally until the press release was posted. Once the press release was posted, the thread got moved to the Tournament Board. As any event is actually underway, we encourage updates in the General Discussion board until the event is over, we then post a press release and move the thread to the Muskie Tournament Forum, a fully moderated section of MuskieFIRST. We report on over 50 tournaments a season at OutdoorsFIRST. The protocol: Tournament organizations provide us with official press releases updating before, each day during, and immediately following the tournament. That is the standard method to supply another media source with information updates and images. We post them as soon as we get them and in fact, we post as many as six press releases a day during tournament season. The reports you see like the one for the Vermilion event is full coverage provided by OutdoorsFIRST Media crews onsite, not a report from another media source. The tournament board was setup to create a place where truly interested fans of competitive Muskie fishing can expect to discuss the sport in an atmosphere that guarantees reasonable conversation.

Aren't there other things people could concern themselves with?

Posts: 157 Location: Arlington Heights, IL | Pointerpride102 Believe me I agree, the other year I get complaints because my posts aren't up on the boards fast enough, so now I spend the extra time after each day to make sure all the muskie boards get the updates right away and I still get complaints, seems like I can't win either way. Steve, sorry didn't know you moved the posts back to the main thread, just going off what I saw at the time. Jim Stella

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Not a knock on you Jim. I'm just amazed people get so worked up over it. If I got that worked up, I'd probably be dead already!

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | No worries Jim, we always have a bit of confusion in the public when we add content sections and therefore move information to a place folks with a bookmark are not used to looking.
