| I have been using 80# power pro and 80# stealth ultrabraid and I have noticed that when fishing clear water lakes the line holds some water (hands get wet but not dripping too bad), but when I am fishing lakes with heavy algae bloom the water just runs off the line, hands are soaked, matter of fact when I lift my rod tip to clean weeds off a lure, water runs down the butt of the handle. Is it just me or is there some connection with the algea water and it holding to braided line? Anyone else notice this? |

I can't say that I have noticed that. I fish both clear and algae lakes. I'll have to watch that next time and see if I have the same experience. |

| That's what I was going to say. Any coated life is going to wear out and start to hold water. You can reverse it if you have lots of line on the reel. Get the good line from the bottom to the top.
When you buy line, make sure and check to see if it's waterproof. It might not be a big deal in the spring and summer, but it's a big deal in fall or cold weather.
I tried some Stren Superbraid lately because they don't coat the line alone, they coat every strand that makes up the line. I figure you can't get more waterproof than that. So far I'm very happy with it. Before that I used Tuf-Line and Tuf-Line Plus, but Tuf-Line XP isn't waterproof, so I stayed away from it.

| I'll attest to 80# PowerPro freezing up in reels in low temps. And Ambassadaur thumb bars freeze up faster than the push button models. It's been a long cold day when you have to leave the lake because all your rods are froze up. |

Location: N.FIB | I found out last fall cortland holds alot of water,way more than power pro I would say,I had to change my line at the end of last year on a couple reels due to the line freezing before it even hit the spool.The hand warmer I brought one day was used to thaw out my line on the reel. |

Location: Twin Cities Metro | I use 80# power pro on all my reels and I have that problem too. Usually I only get wet hands when using topwaters or "pause" jerkbaits because the line isn't running against the tip as hard like when throwing bucktails or crank baits. I think its because the line isn't getting "Squeegeed" when reeled in. I think it depends on the bait more then the water type. |
