Location: North East PA , 20 mins from Chautauqua

I went through my release photos yesterday and noticed something a little odd . In several pictures the fish had sores right where my back hand is holding the fish . Could this possibly be from the fish being held by another fisherman in the past ?

Not to mention a tail thats been split to hell too. For a small fish that one has already been well-beaten.

There are a number of things that can cause what you see there. Angler contact (net, line), lamprey, piscirikettsia, etc.

That's also a common place to see wounds during the spawn. Perhaps old battle scars?
