Location: Bloomington, MN | I picked up a 8' 6" Tica up at Thorne's up at Mille Lacs to go with my Saltist 40 HA, and must state it is an incredible rod for the $. It is telescoping, which until I used it I had no faith in their durability. The price is right since I do not fish that much, and they are so light compared to the Shimano's. I had a Shimano 16N, and just could not get accustomed to using my thumb to put the line on the spool evenly. I picked up a used Saltist 40HA on MFirst classifieds, and to me this is a great reel for $300 less than the Trinidad 16N. I'm a fan of Okuma, but since they are almost impossible to find in Minnesota, I went with the spur of the moment Tica, and have not be happier with a rod purchase in 30+++ years. |
