Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Filled my tank with a fresh tank of premium-ethonal-free gas right before a trip. Lots of squalls moved through over the course of the next three days. At 1/4 tank my 200 Evie H.O. FICHT began hard starting and rough running. Seems like a fuel issue so I topped back off with prem eth free and added two cans of gas treatment (Jonson/Evinrude brand not available) hoping that would clear things up. Didn't help, still hard starting, rough running in idle and slow speeds....on plane runs fine. Now have 1/4 tank again.
Should I run it nearly dry then add prem-eth-free and the prescribed amount of John/Evie fuel trtment?
Not sure where the fuel filter is even located, but I wonder if there is some gunk in there. |

Drain it out and refill tank you also might want to change plugs while your at it. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Ditto- sounds like water in fuel or in oil. Perhaps gas cap or oil cap wasn't fully seated. I had similar performance issues with my 1989 150 Johnson - found a quart of water in the oil tank. Still haven't figured out how it got there, maybe somebody's idea of a joke?
Fuel filter is probably on the engine. Just follow the fuel line.
I'd drain them both dry & start with new fuel filter & plugs.

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Almost forgot- if you have a screw in gas cap. Check the o-ring . This year when I took Esox Maniac out and burned out the old fuel. Went to refill & noticed the o-ring was split. Stll in place but had a 1/8" gap.

| Pump it out. Also, if you want to spend a couple bucks get a fuel water separator. Get the one with the clear glass on the bottom with the drain. this way you can see if there are any issues.

I think before doing any of the items listed I would take a remote gas tank and run the engine first...see if the separate tank takes care of the issue. Then, proceed from there.
