Stay-Lok snaps are great, but I think they ran into a bad batch of wire. This season I have had two break... Well one break and one straighten out on a hook set.

Luckily, the one that broke was on a cast, and the one that straightened, the dawg got shook out on the surface after the snap straightened.

Earlier this year, I had a magic suick. Whenever, whoever threw it, no matter what, muskies ate it. From 40-51 they gobbled it up. I was fishin' with my buddy Hamernick when I had a mid-30 inch pike eat it and wrap up in the line.
After I got it boatside, Hamer said "You gonna lose that bait." Sure enough as I reached for the bait, the snot rocket shook the line got cut on the gill plate and the money jerk was gone.

I know how you feel - Like you just lost a good friend.

Bummer about the lure but very cool that Todd can probably hook you up!

I had one snap fail about 15 years ago and since then have been using split rings. Don't even chance it with any kind of snap when casting. They're OK for most trolling but casting does bad things to our gear and splitrings will NEVER fail. Stealth Tackle can hook you up.
