Location: syracuse indiana | hey guys i just thought it would ask this hee. i think it can be done. but i am looking at working out something for a 8ft monster mag and its missing the buttcap.. my question is can the rod be extended to like 8 1/2 or even a 9 or should i just have the buttend fixed...bill |

| Yes the rod can be extended out to 8'6" and even 9. I dont personally like to extend more than 9 or 10 inches. The rod will not perform any different than it currently does so extending it will not be an advantage unless u are wanting a longer rear grip. hope this helps. |

Location: Stones throw away...finally!! | I extended the butt section of my 6'9" St. Croix by about 4-5 inches as a fix for the rod digging into my ribs. Very easy to do if you have a little patience. The hardest part was finding a piece of blank the correct size for the large diameter of the St. Croix blank. Ended up finding an old catfish rod at a garage sale for 5 bucks. Cut it down, epoxy, install/epoxy cork and butt cap, sand to form cork rings...done. I made a clamp out of 2 pieces of 2x4, and threaded rod (did a search on the internet and found the idea) for even pressure during the gluing stage. After doing it once, I would have a hard time paying someone to do it. I suppose I had maybe $12.00 in the entire project.

Location: syracuse indiana | pikemaster i already have that same thing on my gloomis i guess i could put this on the M.I. rod.. if i dont have it extended 6 inches.. but i think a 8ftr would throw mu pounders well so i may just leave it alone...bill |
