My kid's baseball team won the WI District 6 Little League tournament for 11 year olds. Now we are going to take the first week of August off and spend it up in Ashland for the state tournament. I know the bay has some awesome smallies, but are there any lakes in the area that I can hook into some skis. I do not know the area at all. Any help will be much appreciated.

Pike Chain in Iron River, Namakagen (spelling?), Day lake, and maybe a couple others.

looks like there are only 2 class A waters in Ashland county...Mineral Lake and Upper Clam Lake.

doesn't look like too bad a drive to either.... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=ashland,+wi&daddr=CR-GG&#...

Boat lauch at Upper Clam is bad. Concrete heaved up. Need a 4x4 to be safe. Fished it 7/15 with a guide and moved a couple fish. Lots of nice submerged cabbage. Worth fishing if backing and lauching skills are up to it.

Wed. night all you can eat steak n shrimp @ Greg's Steak House for $13 is worth the trip. 13/77 Junction east of Clam Lake. Greg is a Musky fisherman. Maybe he would pass along some local knowledge if you stop? Seemed like a nice guy. Food was awesome.

Call or stop at Anglers All in Ashland. Roger knows his fish and is very helpful with any questions about the area
