Who do you guys like for custom rods, Franks or Thorne Bros? Who is the rod builder to talk to at Thornes?

Posts: 7037 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I've been a big fan of Frank's Rods (hey now) for about 5 years now. He made me an 8'6" that can't be beat (overall) for double 10s and an 8' H for jerkbaits. I still have not used a rod that fits bettter the combination in feel/power and speed that I get from these sticks.

I got my first custom rod this year from Thorn Brothers. 9' heavy predator! The only thing I don't like about it is I like the thing so much I'm allready thinking about a XH predator just for rubber baits but it will have to wait untill next year $$. Great service!

Thorne Bros. Lonnie is truly the best rod builder in the musky rod industry and one of the best overall. He was the one that brought the g-loomis steel blanks, and predator blanks into the musky industry and I think he also helped with the diamondbacks. Great turn around time, service, and he knows all the ins and outs of rods. What ever u want done to the rod he can do and u will be impressed.

Posts: 380 Location: Michigan | Frank does a phenominal job! His Wraps are the best. If you want a unique, truley customized rod with exceptional quality, give one of Franks rods a try. I have 4 now...

Posts: 462 Location: Antioch, IL | I have posted a few times before on how I don't know if I could live without my custom rod from Frank. I'm sure all of the guys mentioned are good, but Frank has always seemed to stand out in the crowd. He really covers all the bases to find out what you want out of the rod. Very willing to take the time listen and then make suggestions based in his experiences. (plus as stated above. truly unique. Absolute works of art. He is sick in the head with how meticulous his threadwork is)
