Posts: 153 Location: Storm Lake, IA | Headed up to the Northwest Angle in a couple weeks. Looking for a good muskie shop along the way. We will be heading up on Highway 71 from Iowa. Usually stop at the gas station in blackduck and the gander mountain in Bemidji. Curious if there are any other muskie shops along the way that would have a better selection. Thank you in advance

stop at Bluewater Sports in Bemidji. their new location is on the far south end of town, east side of the road just barely north of the 71/2 interchange. it's closer to 71 than the Gander and better selection than in Blackduck. http://www.bluewater-bait.com/

Posts: 335 Location: Minnesota | Bluewater Bait & Sports in Bemidji is way better than either gander or the bait shop in Blackduck IMO. Reed's is a good choice also but not sure it is worth the drive. If you have time to kill - do both Reed's and Bluewater and skip the others.

Posts: 153 Location: Storm Lake, IA | Thanks for the help guys. Think Bluewater will be the spot we hit up. Do any of you know if they carry Mercury Outboard Oil, trolling motor batteries, and other misc things we might need to pick up?

Posts: 233 Location: Iowa | Reeds at walker, and never been to bluewater bait in bemidji but have heard good things about them. There is a gander mountain in bemidji if you feel like paying some of there ridiculous prices. Also up in the blackduck area there is a gas station that had a pretty good selection of muskie stuff. It was a couple of years ago when I was through there so whether they still do or not i do not know for sure. If your looking for oil and that stuff - in Bemidji I would go to L&M supply (have quite a bit of fishing stuff too, most of it isn't specific to muskie) if they don't have what you need you have Bemidji Marine and the other marina to the north about 1/4 of mile. We have plenty of Oil and batteries, but we plan on fishing another lake for a day or so before making our way up to the Angle. Never hurts to have a back up plan in case something goes wrong. Actually the Gander mountain in Bemidji has the cheapest Merc oil we can find. So we stock up there for the whole year. Edited by Doonan 7/20/2009 7:46 AM

Posts: 233 Location: Iowa | I've never actual looked at oil or batteries at gander mountain, so you got me there. I always usually have plenty before I go on my trip. I was talking about most the there muskie lure selection overpriced. jwelch
