what would you guess the longest fish caught in wis will be this year, rumor around here is a couple of teens found a dead one in the rocks on the jump river that they at measured 58'' on a tapemeasure, figured it came from holcombe and died during spawn, can't confirm if its true or not so after all the louie spray jokes do u think anyone will break the 54'' mark in wis this year

yes, on Green Bay.

Way to many parts to the story with that "found" 58 incher. It either never happened or it was 46 inces.

There's lots of upper 50 to mid 60 inch fish caught every year in WI that nobody ever hears about. Huge fish in WI, no doubt. Those in the know keep quiet about really big fish caught in WI (most are the Shoepak strain), except for just enough leaked info to assure a decent amount of tourism.

That way the heaviest musky fishing pressure from big fish chasing yahoos stays in MN on Vermilion and Mille Lacs. All part of the plan by those that understand and arrange such things.

Rest assured, the biggest muskies caught each year are not caught in MN or in America's hat, but right here in Cheeseland, USA. Hell, the muskie is the WI state fish. That says it all, doesn't it?

3rd place earned a little medal.

So, you're saying that this substrain of muskies grows big in WI, but not in MN? They are well documented to reach much smaller sizes than say the leech lake strain.

Hmmm, interesting...must be the cheese.

Cheese has a definite effect on growth rates of Shoepac fish. Changes their colors from purple and white to green and gold, for one thing. Makes 'em faster, and bigger, too.

I would bet the Largest to come out of WI this year will be in the 53-55 range---Pretty much every season there are a few in this range caught and documented. The upper 50's/ 60 inch fish are Dreams almost anywhere--although I know there are a couple Giants caught across the country every year. But still VERY, VERY RARE FISH

Mid 60" Fish??? This I would have to see to believe. Mid 50s, probably a few caught every year but I truely don't think that a 60" fish would be kept a secert very long in this day of imformation and computers. I think that anything over 55" would probably be on the front page of most newspapers.

Just my $.02 worth

That is a pretty bold statement with nothing to back it up!! There are dozens of lakes "near" Hayward! Was it the Chip or another surrounding lake??
I have a hard time believing this as pictures would've surfaced by now!!??

Fib who cares about proof, just a little small talk.
Just take his word for it or dont.
Why should John-Ross tell everyone what lake and then show off a pic to help guess what spot, the lakes in that neck of the woods are smaller and do not need the added pressure.
I for one would not put up a pic of a big ski and tell you what lake I caught it on.

About the 55, he is my friend, seen the pics and talked to him all about it. It is legit. He is not a bragger or fish poster, so No you will not see the pics posted. This thread is about longest fish in Wisconsin, not about proof of length through pictures.

The sight of an upper 50's or mid 60" fish would probably make me faint on the spot.

skunk, yes dairyland is doing great ,alittle harder to fish because of all the new structure put in( alot of structure) so the fish are spread out alttle more than before also starting to get good weed growth in certain areas, 51 biggest we have caught there so far but did see a supertanker that hopefuuly has my name on it
