My Father-n-Law is coming in this weekend and wanted another muskie combo for Fathers day. I am only looking to spend around $300-400 for it. Any suggestion on a solid rod and reel? He wants a Heavy rod, and reel to accomodate it. Also any sales going on please let me know where. Thanks

8 or 8.5 foot Musky Innovations Bulldawg Rod and an Abu Garcia 7000iC3 - should be able to get the pair for about $300 plust tax.

I would suggest an Induron 400 and either a MI Dawg rod or an Okuma rod. If you go all Okuma you can be set up for less than $250 and would be a solid set up for the ol' man.

Which rod would you all get in the Okuma?

I would check out the new long rods, 9'3" but if that's too long then the 8' or 8'6" H would do the trick for most lures. I like long rods so I'm partial.
