Posts: 21 Location: Erie, PA | I just got back from our annual fishing trip to lake athabasca in northern Saskatchewan. My buddies & I have been chasing after a 30lb pike for 15 years. My dream finally materalized. She weighed 32lbs & measured 49" long by 21.75" girth. She hit a lucky craft pointer 100 series bass plug. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I feel very lucky. Guide Ian Besse is in the picture on the left & cradled her. Attachments ---------------- Lakers 2009 004 (3).jpg (165KB - 161 downloads)

Posts: 1769 Location: Algonquin, ILL | I think that most folks who do look down at Pike is because they usually get the 18-34 inch class fish, I got my PB last year a nice 43 incher and I can tell you that once Pike reach this size and beyond they are totally different animals so don't knock big pike until you get one. GREAT FISH Edited by JohnMD 6/23/2009 1:22 PM

Posts: 378 Location: Michigan | Now that is a trophy... I have taken many a trips to the north on the same quest, and have yet to hit 30 lbs... 25 a couple times, but not 30... I would take that over a 40lb muskie...

Posts: 21 Location: Erie, PA | Thanks for all the congrats. Big pike really are special as are big muskies. I have a 50" ski from St Clair which went 33lbs but the pike is more special to me.
