Posts: 87 Location: Red Wing, Minnesota | Anyone care to comment on the relative ease of use (DCG Jr.) compared to the Double Cowgirls? I have one DCG now and after using it I don't really fancy throwing it continuously without upgrading my reel, i.e. Saltist 30LW Today I picked up Cowgirl Jr and a Double Showgirl at Thorne Bros. will try them tomorrow. Posts: 574 | The Jr doesnt pull much easier than the regular, but there is a noticable difference. Buying a saltist reel will NOT make it any easier to reel in, (faster yes, easier no) I like the showgirls, there much easier to pull, but I dont think there nearly as effictive. Good luck....

Posts: 222 Location: c.wis | the 8's are not that much easyier to winch in- try a single 10, I made some over the winter and hands down theyare way easyer to pull in with my calcutta and even my cardiff. they thump just as much, less drag. I made on like 5 0z. and I can get it to 15' slowrollin it and its been my goto this year, well so far

Posts: 413 Location: Madison WI | I can't say I have noticed the difference between the Jr DCG and the DCG. However with that being said my dbl 13's pull much easier then my DCG's.

Posts: 131 | The Double showgirl will feel like the fastest burner bucktail you own after throwing both the DCG and the JR DCG! I ended up biting the bullet and buying a Shimano Trinidad last season for the bigger blades and it definitely makes life easier when throwing 10's and 13's all day. Some guys will only throw the big blades now on the best spots at the best times, or only once a fish has been located. That's a viable option if your not looking to break the bank on a new reel.

Posts: 87 Location: Red Wing, Minnesota | Thanks for the responses. My DCG doesn't pull that hard on a normal retrieve unless I try to get on it. (Daiwa CVZ300 Millionaire) I was hoping to get a little more speed and less strain out of the Jr. I guess I will continue to pick and choose when and where to throw them. I threw the DCG for about an hour straight after I first got it. Got tired and put on a large Eagletail. Wow, what a difference and relief it was. When you guys are talking 13's I assume you are talking Sili Girls? They pull easier? Must be the longer blades then... The Double Showgirl looks like a nice little lure. We'll see. Thanks again. Dave The Sili Girls are Musky Mayhem's silicone skirt version of the Double Cowgirl. Double 10 blades on those as well. There are a few "13s" out there. Mayhem's Super Model Double Cowgirl is generally what folks are referring to on them. Aaron

Posts: 83 | Spallguard, when your reel in your DCG, do you point your rod tip at the lure or to the side? I find it retrieves much easier if I point my rod towards it.

A bend in the blades at the clevis can have a huge effect on how hard they pull.

Posts: 264 | i would have to say there is a pretty big difference on the pull between a Jr and an original cowgirl. It seems like the Jr just comes through the water much easier.

Location: Oswego, IL | There has to be a difference I would think. Smaller blades weight and profile = less pull and water movement. Dont quite get the 13's being easier unless the blades are shaped different. Colorado will pull alot harder than say indiana blades. I could be wrong, thats happened once before.

Posts: 431 | you can tell a substantial difference between a dc9 and a double cowgirl. Haven't thrown the jr., so can't comment.

The 13's that I am referring to are colorado blades and they pull much easier then 10's (colorado). With that being said IMO the Willowbeast pulls harder then a dbl 10 even though they are advertised as being easier to retrieve.

Posts: 742 Location: Grand Rapids MN | I've been thinking about picking up a Willowbeast... seen them at Gander and they have a huge blade. I sat one next to a DC10 and it was just about as wide but a whole lot longer. So these things don't pull as nice as claimed, huh? That was going to be the whole reason for buying one. Guess I'll stick with my Reefers and a few custom dbl #8 willows from Baldy. muskyhunter24 - 6/24/2009 1:14 PM muskiewhored - 6/24/2009 11:46 AM There has to be a difference I would think. Location: Oswego, IL | No kidding, the 13's pulls easier? Wow, thats a bit strange. Will have to do some of my own field testing on that

Location: The Yahara Chain | I have a double 13 from Figure 8 and it pulls much harder than my 10's. 10's are not Colorado blades, they are magnum blades. The JR Cowgirl blades are mag 8's and they dwarf Colorado 8's. Retrieving strain on the body and equipment: 13's>10's>8's

I think they pull about the same as the cowgirls. I wish there was more color choices for the willowbeast. Brian

Be nice to your Cowgirl; and she'll be nice to you. Double 8s are okay, but common. Double 10s are much rarer. Showgirls are fun but can't be trusted.

Posts: 87 Location: Red Wing, Minnesota | Yesterday I compared the DCG with my new DCG Jr. The Jr. does retrieve somewhat easier. I'd say that for the money, you might as well buy the DCG. I also tried out the Double Showgirl (8's). It doesn't belong in the same conversation as the larger ones. Pulls easy. After the testing was complete, I caught a fish on a Jackpot...
