Hey all. I got a load of dawgs that i need to fix. Which is better and which will last the longest and do the most repairs? The mend-it glue or the hawg seekers glue kit? Thanks!

one of the properties of superglue is that it maintains its bond well underwater. the gel versions are easy to apply.
the Hawgseekers glue is a gel form of superglue that's marketed to muskie fishermen.
i've used it and it works well, just like the other superglue gels that i've used.

you can go to your local Wal-mart or hardware store and buy some gel superglue for one sixth of the price...
Hawgseekers 0.5oz $11.00 (hawgseekers.com)
Superglue Gel 1.6oz $6.95 (amazon.com)

or if you've got the time to work on your soft plastic baits at home, go ahead and get a heating tool of some kind instead. i've been using cauterizing tools that i got from Sorno, and last weekend agrimm fixed one of my baits with a small electric soldering iron that worked even better.

For certain types of tears, I've used a soldering iron. Run the iron along both sides and squeeze. But those products sound good though.

You have to try MEND-IT you will never use super-glue again !!!!!!!!
MEND-IT is all I use, but you should let it dry for 2-4 hours.

Mend-IT!!!! Not even a comparison. Mend-It is NOT a glue, it chemically melts the pieces back together. You can't glue your fingers together even if you tried. I have a bait fishing again in under 5 minutes. Gaurantee you'll never use a soldering iron again.

it is now in new bottles, it last so much longer and if it does thicken up just add a little bit of MEK thinners.

Ok guys. I just got my bottle of Mend-It in the mail today and this stuff is amazing. I had a bulldawg that was in 2 pieces in the midsection and a pounder with the tail completely shredded and it fixed them like new. I can pull as hard as i want on the pieces without fear of it coming undone. this stuff is a must for all dawg fisherman. Its already paid for itself fixin the pounders!

I recently added Mend-it at Musky Tackle Online as well after testing it out for myself. This stuff is as advertised. I had a swimbait that I thought was headed for the trash. It didn't look like there was any way to repair, be it with glue, a torch, anything. Worked on it with Mend-it for a bit and I was back in business. I was very impressed!

I was told by Andy Bellinni of Shack Attack lures, that you guys might be interested in my products. I make Mend-it glue, it's the first and still the best, no-mess glue for soft plastics, featured in the Bass Angler's Guide, Bass West and In-Fisherman magazines, Mend-it leaves the repaired bait soft and dries clear, most repairs are invisible. www.mend-it.com

I also make the coolfoot line. Coolfoot is a peel and stick pad for trolling motor pedals, Andy's using one, so is Pete Maina (pink, of course!) as well as quite a few tourning BASS and FLW pros. Coolfoot was named Best Boating Product 2009 by Canada Outdoor magazine www.coolfoot.biz

Finally, my newest invention, the Bac Rac is a co-angler's dream come true, now you can bring 4 rods safely and securely in this revolutionary rod rack. Featured this year on Ultimate Match Fishing (Outdoor Channel), the Bac Rac will keep your rods safe and secure and ready to fish at a moment's notice www.bac-rac.com

Will mend it re-attach tails that are completely off or are you better off melting it and saving the mend it for rips and tears?

Yea the mend it will reattach the tails no problem but its best to let the solution set for a little bit. for quicker repairs its best just to use a knife and a lighter.

What's a good way to patch up a bait where the lead head has torn thru the nose? Same techniques? Even Dollar Store superglue works for all kinds of stuff. 1 pill bottle of 4 tubes costs..$1. It dries hard and crusty though, maybe not the best for a rubber bait. Great on loose lips and any eyeball I've ever had come loose on a plug. They get locked down for good with it. That Mend-It stuff sounds slick.

Mend - it I think is stronger then if you use a hot knife, and it will not burn the plastic, U do need to let it set for 15mins, so if you use a hot knife you would be able to use it in 5mins.

I (Custom Spinners Unlimited) also sell Mend-It and I believe I have the lowest price anywhere with very low shipping prices ($1.95) also!

Small bottle - $3.99
Large bottle $9.99
2 Small bottles - $7.99
1 Small bottle and 1 Large bottle - $13.99
2 Large bottles - $19.99

PM or visit my ebay store here and click on the Mend-It category:
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Custom-Spinners-Unlimited

This stuff is amazing and I even use in in production of one of my 20" $50 bucktails. Oh and gluing the tail back on my 2 pounder somebody pulled off at a show and didn't tell me about.

I also have a video on the stuff for any other non-believers here:

Your better off not using the glue and remelting everything together. Just get a propane torch. Vice grips and a spoon. Put the spoon in the vice grips as close to the large part of the spoon as possible heat the handle tip of spoon till glowing then insert hot spoon on plastic ares wher the baits are tearing and it is as strong as it was on day one. The little bit of distortion wont effect anything!!!
