| other than palmability, what is the advantage of a toro 60 high speed model over the far cheaper 6500 size high speed (6.4:1) C4? Only thing i can see is more ball bearings...probably easy and cheap upgrade. i hold my rods in front of reel while reeling so palmability not a factor for me. |

| A much stronger drag on the Toro, I one piece frame for added strength, dual anti reverses on the Toro, double and power handle included with the Toro, much larger gears on the Toro for better durability. |

| ya they are made much better and the gears on the toro dont wear out like the C4 |

| the only reason your gears will wear out on a C4 is if you don't use the reel and rod together to get the correct leverage. You can watch alot of people reel in the new big lures and struggle and apply all the resistance on the reel. All reels will require maintenance; and to change any abu parts is simple and inexpensive.If you want to save some money buy the c4 it will last a long time(Forever) but the revos are also very nice i purchased 2 last year and you won't have any of the problems you see people try and post on this site. Most of the posts are from people that can't afford one or just have something against abu. remember if you go to canada and were in need of a part it will be simple to get something for an abu also. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The main gear on the 6500 ABU is about 31mm in size and the TORO main gear is about 41mm tall, so the TORO will have more power !!! and if you look at the pinion gears on both you will see that the TORO pinion gear is 20-30% bigger then the ABU 6500. The 6500 H/Speed gears will not last with DCG10-13. The TORO has DUAL ANTI-REV it has a bearing and a PAWL. The TORO will be the reel of most musky guys in the next years to come !!!!!!! It is a tank !!!!! |

Location: Aurora, IL. | First off I love the toro and I know you were curious about the high speed version. I own three toro 60's in the 5.4:1 speed. As stated earlier all reels require maintenance. I have put the toro's through 12 days of tournament fishing so far this season and probably another 25 days of pre fishing or regular fishing time. One has gone on a slingblade for double 10's, and the other two have gone on MH legend tournament sticks. The toro on the slingblade has performed great, no problems. One of the other toros primarily used for small to medium sized bucktails and twitch baits totally blew up. Admittedly this reel has gotten a majority of the action. You could actually hear things shaking around inside when you shook the reel. I'm no reel doctor but I have a fairly good understanding of the design. I was a bit disappointed, thought it should have lasted longer between maintenance calls. Anyway I sent the reel to the ABU factory in Peoria and they had it back to me in two days, pretty good response in my book. The thing that bothered me was that on the repair summary they said all they did was oil the reel. Im sure they did that, but I and others heard pieces of washers or bearings or something rolling around inside the reel. Anyway, The toro still remains in the line up.
Not sure if anyone else is seeing this issue but I wanted to share my experience.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The Toro came out last year AUG 2008 so in 8 - 9 mths I think this is the first time I have heard that someone had a issue, not to bad in my book, and you had it back in 2 days, WOW what took them so long ??   PS: I hope the 4.4:1 gear ratio will be out by fall ???
