Location: New Hope MN | Sunday I ran into something i have seen before. I would be a good distance from the weed edge when suddenly the floating log right next to me splashes down into the depths with a big red tail. I saw this 6 times Sunday and only had 1 actual follow.
Any suggestions? I tried topwater & was tossing at the "floaters" when i saw them. Nothing seemed to work. |

| i saw that once last year, i knew it wasnt a follow, but it was so weird because it did it right next to the boat. for what i could tell it was for no reason. anyone else see this? |

Location: c.wis | ive had this happen to me, its weird they just float there looking at you almost like they were saying haha you cant catch me- ive seen it numerous times and its always when its nice and sunny out- ive heard and read on this site that the fish will use the warmer water and sun to help digest theyre lunch- either way its cool to see |

I see that quite often on flat sunny days especially when the waters temps are below 70 degrees

That might be the case. Water temps were 69-71 first thing that morning.
It was happening between 6-9AM under blue-bird skies.

| Mid May morning, 58f water temps and Blue Bird sky.... fish surfaced, tossed a Bass jig/pig his way and got bit almost immediately.
The Bass sized jig and spinning reel allowed for a long accurate cast.

| I gotta agree w/ Tim. This happens early in the season w/ cool H2O temps along with they have prob fed already on early suspending fish |

| If you have a boga grip handy, you can actually hit them with it It stuns them long enough for a nice photo...just another use of the boga.... |

Nice, now we will guys with boga grips taped on handles trying to smack em. LOL, I think it would be more challenging to try that on carp though. |

Location: SE, WI. | I disagree with the fact that those porposing fish won't hit. Last weekend I had a fish porpose 30 feet in front of me. It looked to have some substance. Took 3 casts at it and the fish blasted the surface bait...46 3/4". I've had this happen several times in my musky world. They are not impossible. You must lead the fish and keep throwing at it till it is ready and set up for ambush again. Odds are low BUT it does happen:o . They will eat at times!!! |

| I had one do that next to me on little green about a month ago. One cast within 15 ft of the boat and he nailed it, didn't stay hooked though.  |
