Subject: Gel Coat/Glass Damage

I recently just dinged up my boat a little bit, on land. I have attached a picture of the damage and I have a couple of questions for those "in the know"

1) Is this a big deal or is this something that can wait until the end of summer? There's not actually a hole in the glass...

2) Is this something I can do myself? Any products I can pick up and just patch it up temporarily?

3) If not, anyone have places they recommend between Il/Wi border and up North?

Thanks

Not a huge deal, but you need to get the glass sealed up again. Get so0me red polyflake and mix it with clear gelcoat, add the catalyst, and use some packing tape to hold the stuff in place on the vertical surfaces until it kicks. Then add a bit of just clear, and wet sand and buff. Not to new, but in a couple hours, you'd have to look closely to see the damage was done.

West Marine or a boat dealer who sells the brand you own can help. Gel coat is a hazardous material to ship (expensive), so if you live near a boat builder, call them and see if they would sell you a little to get the job done.
