My 1 year old X-135 was inoperable from the first time out this season. I spoke with Lowrance and it is the transducer, they are sending me one but its on back order. That was two weeks ago and since then I"ve spoken with more fishermen who also have bad transducers, One guy said the service rep. told him that the transducers are bad from cold weather over the winter!! I stored the unit inside but the transducer is mounted to my boat! Has anyone heard of the same type of thing??The part # is 106-72/HST-WSBL any info wba..

Yes I have heard of the problem and seen it happen to people when I was on LOTW last summer. Luckily I've got a good one. I do have a spare though just in case. As far as the cold weather burning them out I would say that's BS from Lowrance trying to put the blame on someone else.

Even though I get new locators about every year the transducer on my boat is still the same one that I originally put on it 5 years ago and it still works fine and I have never taken it off or stored it in a heated area. It sits in an unheated garage all winter.

I have went through a couple, they always replaced them for free. Not sure what the exact problem is, but none of my buddies have had problems with theres.

My LMS480 would also lock up but only when it was plugged into the universal transducer on the trolling motor. I updated the software and now it's fine.

You can use a different locator with an old Transducer ? or does it have to be the same model Locator or same company?
I am new at this game am thinking of getting rid of my Hummingbird 525 that came with the boat.
The original owner left the old finder on the boat when he sold it, then the 2nd owner bought it off of him and got the Hummingbird 525 and just cut the wire of the first transducer so he wouldnt have screw holes from the first transducer.
Well I might replace the Hummingbird 525 and if I do then there will be 3 transducers hanging from the back of my boat
Can you take them off & Plug with silicone or is it better to just leave them there?

Take them off and plug with silicone. Or just a screw with silicone. Extra transducers add extra drag.

Plunker,
'One guy said the service rep said' is a bit fuzzy to be bashing Lowrance.

Not "Bashing". Just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything along those lines. I went out and bought a new tranceducer, installed it and the unit works just fine now. Lowrance is sending me a new transducer as I am under warantee. Spoke with three others at the MTT on Mille Lacs this last weekend who also had Lowrance transducer problems.

Hello fellows I'm interested in get some more informationa bout the Lowrance Transducers Frozen, for example, if it fail during the first winter? and if the boat was inside a garage or outisde? and an estimated couldest tesmperature at that winter, did you try to get the unit replaced at the store?. Does any had problems with another transducer brand?
If any information please contact me to [email protected]
