I have a friend who wants me to go to his property in Boulder Junction in September this year. I am curious if Turnover is an issue if we plan to go at the end of the September. I am thinking Turnover won't happen until October but thought to ask. I know weather will be the most deciding factor but curious what you guys think?

Thanks to all!

It can and has happened in September. You really gotta keep an eye on water temps. Once you start seeing about 55 turnover can happen fast. One decent thing about being up in BJ, there's plenty of water to fish if T.O. is happening. I wouldn't let it stop you from fishing up there.

You might encounter a few lakes starting to turn in the late September time frame, especially if it's a colder than normal fall. But then if that's the case it's not difficult to find a lake nearby that's either already done or hasn't started yet. I certainly wouldn't let it stop me from fishing, though.

Thank you for the replies. I was hoping to hit the topwater, bucktail bite before turnover. I will ask if we can go earlier in Sept.

Thanks again!

you could have plenty of company the weekend following Labor Day weekend with the tournament held in the area. Last year, middle September had a bad algae bloom on the lake I stayed at.

Bobby, if they lake you guys are going to hit is in TO, look for lakes with rivers, and especially rivers flowing in and out. Top waters and buctails still work around river/stream mouths during turnover.
