Posts: 158 | I will be jigging some channels and weed beds edges on the east side on Minnetonka. Also some slow trolling some floating lindy rigs around the weed beds. Then a burger at Maynards because I can never catch walleyes. I am jonesen so bad for muskies, this weekend is like throwing the caged animal a bone with no meat on it! or something! ha

Back from Mille Lacs for my opener.. Gravel on the east side did not produce, went to plan B.. Sand on the north end produced a few fish, it was bumper boats in the sand.. Very few fish caught considering the number of people.. I taked to several of my friends, only one person did well fishing deep, who would have figured??

Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | If I wasn't working in Baltimore right now, I'd be in Pike bay on Vermilion with about 200 other fishing Nuts. Walleye opener in Mn. is a Great time indeed. We often get our limit by noon and then go chase Big Pike in the shallows. My kids love the opener in Mn. Jerome

Posts: 222 Location: c.wis | unfortunatley I was stuck here at home in albert lea. was out at 12:00 would have had a limit of keepers but I dont eat fish. my biggest was 29" approx 7lbs(numbers =/- cause its a boga knock off) and got a huge pike in the am after the sun came up. I caught all the eyes on xraps, and yozuri crystal minnows and the pike was on a 6" golden shinner under a cork I caught while dodging rain clouds.I made a minnow trap survivor man style out of a two letre bottle. the pike was 37.5 @15.8 my personal best! I lucked out cause only one other person wanted to dodge ran drops with me. it was a zoo by 6. later I got the boat out but theres only so much water in the area, well producive water that is, all the good spots you can fish from shore......... saw a guy run his new rig right into a large rock, sucks to cause it was a nice 620, I dont think the keel guard helped much lol. as always there is always the wreckless boaters, I even saw a jetski out this morn????? come on, one of the most anticipated days of the year next to ski's opening up? at least I get to spend alot of time in wis. and allready have had a ski in the boat so the nerves are cooled down a bit. anyways hope everyone had a good opening weekend............

Posts: 897 | I tried the mud yesterday afternoon, got one had another break off between 3 and 5. Went out at 8 and the bobbers didn't stop going down until around 1:15 a.m. when we decided we'd had enough. Had probably 35 bites, only caught 12...I think I need to brush up on my bobber technique! Buddy was pulling cranks in 12' and his boat caught 15-20 eyes between 8pm and 1am. The fish were biting but a lot of people left the lake to early to catch them.

Posts: 264 | went to crane lake. Caught decent numbers but mostly bigger fish over the slot.Lindy-rigged leeches and rainbow shiners in 6-14 ft. of water. The biggest was 26" and weighed 6.5 lbs. It was good weekend

Posts: 670 Location: Otsego, MN | Mille Lacs was great. Gravel and rock humps on the east side. Caught most on Lindys but the bobbers were pretty good as well. Caught tons of fish but struggled to keep them under the 18" slot. Was my first opener on the Pond and it lived up to it's hype. I'll be heading back for sure.

Posts: 444 | Good to hear there biting on Mille Lacs, We fished Leech.....caught some eyes but it was good, If it warms up a bit and you can deal with the crowds there will be a really good walleye bit on Leech. Also Bobbing Dude, Dont throw Muskie Lures on Leech before opener...

Posts: 897 | Speaking of Leech, I'm heading over there for a bachelor party Memorial weekend. Anyone have some general patterns or areas they'd like to share with me? I have never walleye fished Leech before, and probably won't again anytime soon so don't worry about me burning any spots. I'm guessing it will be pretty easy to find fish that weekend with all the boats on the lake...but still, I like being prepared so that I can get tackle if I'll need it. I'll trade coordinates on Mille Lacs or Red if someone wants to do that. PM me please. Thanks in advance! -Chris Edited by whynot 5/12/2009 6:17 PM
