Location: Bemidji, MN | I'm looking at purchasing an Daiwa Saltist with levelwind and I'm not sure which one to get, the 20 HA or 30 HA...They both have the same line per crank at 35" and are identical except that the 20 is 18.5 oz, 30 is 19.4 oz and different line capacity as well. I am going to use this for mag dawgs/cowgirls/XX's and blades similiar to these.
I looked at a couple but did not look at them long and get a good feel of it. What kind of reel would you compare this to size-wise? Calcutta 700B, Abu Garcia 7000iC3 and etc...
Any feedback and help will be appreciated. Thanks. |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | I' got both the 20 and the 30.. I'd got with the 30 for what you want to use it for. They are both good sized reels, but in the long run, I think the 30HA is a better buy! I would say it is more like a 700b but a tad bit smaller, it is more comfy to palm! |

Location: Oshkosh | Jerry, how do the 30 and the 40 compare to a garcia 7000 size wise? For the guys using them, are you able to palm them, that is what I am wondering.

| 40 is a beast - larger than a 7000 - with nearly double the line capacity - you can get 400+ yard of 80Lb braid on the 40 - I still palm it - but those with small hand may not be able to ?

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | They are a breeze to palm! They are smaller in size than a 7000. The 20 and 30 have the same profile. This is a 30 vs. 7000

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | I haven't really put the screws to a saltist yet, but they seem pretty well built - my only concern is the fact that they are difficult to free spool once there is some tension on the reel. Today, I was doing some rod tests, and I was using a Saltist 30 HA. The lever bail was difficult to pop when trying to release under pressure. I hope they hold up since I really liked them off of the bat! |

| The 40 will pick up an extra 12in. of line per turn! But as mentioned before its a big, heavy,bulky son of a gun. But darn its fast and powerful!
