Random quote: I will actually get up before breakfast. Slamr will see. I will be fishing earlier than he has ever seen. Which, I might add, is not all that early.

The Fox River Valley Chapter of Muskies, Inc. will host the 14th annual Spring “Challunge” on the Chain on Saturday April 25th. Entry fee is $200.00/team to fish one event or $380.00/team to fish both the Spring & Fall events. Your entry fee includes a buffet dinner following the awards ceremony. Tournament hours are from 7:00AM-4:00PM. Boats will be released in numerical order based on the postmarked date your entry was received. Tournament waters include those waters north of the McHenry dam to the WI state line on the Fox River. Tournament registration on tournament day will run from 5:00AM-6:45AM. Payouts are based on a full field of 125 teams per tournament. This is a catch & release only tournament and live bait is not allowed. A photo of your fish (30” or longer) MUST be accompanied with your paperwork at the end of the day. All forms must be turned in by 4:15PM or your entry will NOT be counted, no exceptions. We will be headquartered at the Thirsty Turtle on the south end of Channel Lake and Chauncey Niziol from ESPN Radio will once again be our M.C. The grand prize for the 2009 Spring Challunge is a week’s stay for 2 at the Angle Outpost Resort on Lake of the Woods. The Challunge on the Chain series is the richest musky tournament in Illinois boasting the biggest payouts and most prizes given away; of any sanctioned musky tournament in the state! This year most of the teams that are signing up are doing so as “trail teams” and will be fishing both the Spring & Fall events! This is a great one day tournament and it’s a lot of fun to fish, so sign up now while we still have slots available. You can check your starting positions on the FRV website by just clicking on the forums page, then click on 2009 Tournament news! All of this info & more can be found on our website at www.frvmuskie.com

The FRV chapter puts on a great tourney and afterparty. All you PMTT guys should make this event if possible. You fish against the Chain's best sticks, the payouts are good, and maybe you raise a few fish you can come back to for the PMTT.
How you like my Cutler avatar guys?

Right now there are 60 boats in the event. Still plenty of spots left.

92 teams, hard rains for 80% of the day, seven fish were registered ranging from 32" to 41".
Lots of sightings, few follows.
A lot of fish were in the spawn, and the weather was awful. Just awful.

Some caught trolling, some caught casting.

Great work by the FRV and the Thirsty Turtle.
