Has anyone heard about the "rumored" 70lb musky caught on Mille Lacs in Minnesota? If legit, it is the new world record. You can follow it on the Muskies Inc. message board (that's where I found it).

Sponge- It's in the Members Only Bulletin Board. It doesn't say a lot other than he (Smitty) heard about it from two sources.

I hope it's true!
I just got done reading Pete Mania's artical in EA about the past records and I would like to see that all cleaned up with a new record.

i would like to see it too- but i don't get my hopes up because these rumors always turn out to be another "fishy" story... i think if a 70 pounder was really caught- everyone would know right away... it wouldn't just be a rumor trickling around...

Here we go again, another big fish rumour out of MN. Man MN is starting to look like the WI of the 40s. [:blackeye:]

I remember that replica fish from last year.

You can bet that whenever someone sticks a real one there will be pictures everywhere in a moment not weeks or months. Most of the local guides have said thats they do not know it to be true. [:((]

I think the next WR will be caught Either

1: In the spring, A really fat sow full of eggs or

2: Late Fall, Open water fish on a deep clear lake that has been feeding on nothing but Lake Trout & Ciscoes all it's life

Where and what lake ? I wish I knew[]

Folks,

Looks like the "new World Record" thread died as quick as it started. I fugured this to be just another rumor, but what the heck, I thought I would ask around. I think there is a website that tells the "real" story behind rumors, anyone know what it is?

Sure, MuskieFIRST. If there IS a real story, one or more of the the thousands of anglers looking in on us here every day will be able to confirm or deny eventually.[]

http://www.snopes.com

It doesn't have muskie information, but it does disprove a lot of stuff.

Like Trophymuskie said, If someone does catch a world-record fish, anyone that frequents muskie boards will know about it, so most likely since its been this long since the fish was actually caught I for one don't think it'll be the record.
