Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Alright, my "weekend" is pretty much over since I have to work tomorrow (saturday), which may or may not involve some trolling for a tiger, but I don't have high expectations so I'll give my "weekend" report now, hopefully it is left up. Wednesday my boss and I headed up to Stanley, Idaho to fish the Salmon river for steelhead. He's a semi-expert with a fly rod, I'm a wannabe-rookie with a fly rod. Anyway left the Ogden, UT area around 4 am on Wednesday and were fishing by 9:30 am. To start the trip off right my boss hooks and lands a fish within a half hour of us getting there. Now we're thinking we'll be into fish all trip. He hooked a 6 or 7 more that day, but lost most of them. I hooked 2 or so and promptly lost them both. After a long first day, we packed up and headed to the motel. The next day we were up at 5:30 and fishing by 6. The river had come up overnight due to the warm weather and light rain. The water clarity was poor, and we struggled to keep interested in fishing for fish we could not see. When the day was all said and done we ended up harvesting 3 fish, all caught by my boss. I hooked one fish and lost it after a brief battle. After 11 or 12 hours of fishing, we were tired and contemplating going back. Then the snow hit. This made up our minds. Back to the motel, enjoying some buffalo hamburgers wondering if the snow would keep falling and leave us stranded an extra night in Stanley. Friday (today) brought frigid temps but the snow had stopped. We hit the river by 7 am one last time in hopes to get into the fish before heading home. And we did just that! The river cleared up quite a bit overnight and the fishing improved with it. The air temp was well below freezing so we were picking ice out of our guides every few minutes. After about an hour I finally landed my first steelhead on a fly, and my boss landed several others. We could have limited out by 9 am, but tossed a few back. We ended up harvesting 5 fish on Friday before we headed back to Ogden. Overall a great trip! Sorry my report isn't of the Esox variety, but my opportunities are limited. Oh yeah, the scenery wasn't half bad either. Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice work...I have stumbled into a couple 20 inch browns and bow's...but nothing like that at all...I am learning the fly fishing as well...fun stuff. I do have a muskie lake in CO and will be hitting NM this year as well...so if you get free time let me know....the west is pretty darn great though...

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Zach, TJ, and I worked the Anglers Insight Marketing Walleye Tour dry run at Winneconne. Andrew Klopak, President of Lund Boats, was filmed catching a 34" muskie on Winneconne (good to see), and several really nice Pike were caught too, all the while trying to boat walleyes. The anglers participating in the test run caught plenty of those, too.

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | I volunteered to be a film boat on the southern lakes for the Challunge on the Chain. We got down there and ther were very few boats so we fished some. I bought a new revo and an 8'6" bass crankbait rod so I bass fished while Mark threw small muskie lures. It was not long before I netted a 40'er for him. Had we entered the tournament it would have been a 3rd place fish and missed big fish by one inch! I caught 4 bass and had 4 more hit. I really liked that new bass rod and reel!
