Random quote: Muskies are nasty. They stink. They taste bad. They are hard to catch and will disappoint even the most devoted angler. The lures required cost more than some women's jewelry. The rods and reels require a remortgage of the house. The boat is always worth more than the tow vehicle. Sure beats the hell out of golf. - (Added by: sworrall) |

Posts: 786 Location: Delavan, WI | Well, this is my 1st post in the Basement section, I have dabbled with some topwaters before, and I figured its only time before I started making my own gliders- I have been checking out what is happening on this forum for a while now and its only a matter of time before the itch takes over (wink wink) well anyways I will keep up and update the progress- the blanks are made of cedar, the small ones are 1" thick and around 7.25" length and the bigger 1 is 10.75" and .75" thick, although by the time they are done IM sure the measurements will change- anyways any input is highly appreciated- Thanks Guys MM. Posts: 786 Location: Delavan, WI | For now I will use 1.5" screw eyes , but may try some wire thru designs once I get better at it -I have not really worked with wood much since Im an auto mechanic by trade- but have learned a lot by watching this forum and pretty much went out and bought a few tools- scroll saw, sander, drill press etc- next I gotta learn to paint LOL- I've messed around with the airbrush a bit and am certainly no expert at that either, but its a lot of trial and error we'll see what happens Thanks MM.

Posts: 1504 Location: Oregon | My only question why did you put the screw eye on the top? Put it on the nose of the bait and you should have a good darting-swimming bait. RM

Posts: 786 Location: Delavan, WI | I do have 1 on the nose as well- I wanted to see if it would run like a ratlle trap with the screw eye on top - just trying different things that's all.

Posts: 531 Location: Hugo, MN | How does it run with the top screw eye? Any good? I have a bunch of failed gliders that I need to try repositioning the screw eyes to see if I can salvage some of them. Nothing like building a bait that looks like a million bucks but has the action of a downrigger ball.
