My father-in-law has been hounding me to go to Wingra for years. This year I am getting laid off for a week the first week of May and I told him I would come down and take him there during the week. I have heard the landing on Wingra is not that good, is that true, is there a better landing and can you get to Wingra from lake Monona. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

there is no way to get to wingra from monona because of the dam. if you want fish wingra you have to use that landing. its also no gas motors on the weekend, just fyi.

Landing is fine. Never a problem but make sure you park with only your trailer on the grass. No access from Monona.

I've only seen/heard of 1 person that couldn't get their boat in there. Not the brightest tool in the shed.........It was clear his trailer was nowhere near level. Easily could have fliped his reciever upside down to give a 1" lift instead of 1" drop..................

Point is, I've even seen 620s fit in there, so unless you drag tounge going in and out of driveways you should be just fine.

I was looking at the landing from the satalite view. Where is the best spot to turn the rig around to put the boat in. Looks like it is really crowded by the landing itself. Turn around at the parking area and back in?

Thanks.

Exactly! Hug the right side at the wide part(right at the building) and make a u-turn. You end up facing where you need to be. Then just back down. I always turn my rig around, and then walk down to make sure theres not a boat already down there before I would start backng in.

Good luck

This lake is no wake at all times and no engines on the weekends correct? Also if I can not run my big engine on weekends would I still be able to fire it up to load up at the end of the day. much easier to power load than to pull it on by hand.

I believe the sign says there's a 5 mph speed limit during the week and no motors on the weekends and holidays. I don't think it says anything about powerloading on weekends, so I would assume u shouldn't use them.

No motor means no motor from what I have heard. You fire up your engine and you're asking for a fine.

I want to try Wingra this year as well. I am from Illinois, do I need a special launch pass, or is there a daily fee?

I was down at Wingra launch today and here the sign posted at the launch.

PLEASE READ THIS PART - THE CITY IS REPLACING SEWER PIPE BETWEEN MONROE STREET AND THE LAUNCH. IT GOING TO BE A MESS OUT THERE. THE CITY WORKER SAID IT WILL LAST UNTIL OCTOBER. BE ADVISED.
