Posts: 315 | i know there is another post about the red isis vs. the revo.....but im in the market for a low profile reel. i cant decide between the revo or the curado, ive read reviews on both reels and not sure which one to go with. i need some personal opinions on both reels. i know the revo is more expensive by $30 or so, is it worth that extra $30? just want to know how you guys/gals feel about the two reels.... thanks!!! -brian-

I got to handle one of the Toros and it felt smoother than my Curado, which I love. I'm just waiting to get a consensus before I put the money down for one.

Guys, Ive used both reels especially the Curado (two seasons) and the Toro since ice out in Illinois this year. In my opinion the curado is a fantastic reel for nearly every application except burning double tens. The Toro is also versatile but built at least in my opinion more solidly. Both can handle virtually anything we throw but the Toro seems more comfortable handling larger baits. I destroyed a curado two seasons ago when I first bought the reel burning cowgirls on the north shore of mile lacs. Just is not the right application for that reel. It can handle a moderate retrieve with no problem. Honestly I havent truly worked the Toro out yet on large baits or burning double tens all day tournament style, but so far it has without questions cracked the starting line up in my boat. Good luck Joe

Posts: 1184 Location: Iowa Great Lakes | I have both but only have used the Curado so far for most of last season and I love it. I'm not fond of Abu's but I'm giving the Toro a shot seems like a well built product. I'll be abusing it as soon as the new rod gets here that the Toro will call home. It will primarily be a Cowgirl reel, I don't burn them and since my Curado did so well with them last year hoping the Toro will be just as good. Matched with a 9' Thorne Predator rod it should be a good set up.

Posts: 574 | I've seen a Curado take a beating for most of last year, I've beaten a pair of Calcuttas for close to 2 seasons now, and I've had multiple Abus replaced within the first year. I would buy the Curado even if the Revo feels nicer. I would expect the Shimano to outlast the Abu.

Posts: 315 | i agree on the spool size, wishing the curado had a larger one. i am leaning toward the toro though. it was my first choice, i think im gonna pick one up at thornes this weekend (hopefully i can get it on sale for the spring sale deal)

Posts: 315 | is there any limits to baits that the toro could handle? even big blades arent a problem? thanks for all your imputs, helping me come to a conclusion -b-

Posts: 82 Location: Minneapolis,Mn | Spent most of last summer, down south at the Melton Hill Reservoir in Tennesse, was able to use a guides (fieldtester)Toro quite extensively. during that same time, I fried one of my Curados burning Cowgirls. Just like the Toro better, maybe its the synchronized levelwind and great drag!

Does anyone have any comments or experience with The TORO HS reel (6.4:1)? I am looking for a reel specifically to burn smaller bucktails - double show girls or smaller, not for double 10's. It's suppose to pull in 31 inches per crank (instead of 26 inches for the 5.4:1 version). My biggest concern is if the hi-speed version will be brutal on the arms to burn bucktails the size of double show girls for long periods of time - or would it be better to just stick with the 5.4:1 reel and just crank like crazy? Thanks!
