| A group of us will be heading up to Dinorwic for a week's stay in mid July. We plan on traveling up the river and fishing Wabigoon quite a bit also. Does anyone have any tips or fished either lake that time of year? Thanks. |

| Never been on Dinorwic, this is specific to the Goon but should work at both...
1st thing to do is find the heaviest cabbage possible and work it over good. If you can find a rocky saddle with weeds, it's almost a guarantee to at least see one. Fast moving bucktails, prop baits, and WTD's seemed to work best, although we have success with Suicks over deeper weeds/rocks. Those spots are just less obvious. Main thing is to find them and come back at prime time. They don't move far.
Mid-July should be prime time so you should be in good shape. Good luck! |

| Thank you for the tips. What colors have you found to be productive? I would think greens, oranges, and other bright colors would be good with the dark water. |

| I've always had my best success with black/orange or walleye patterns. If you can get off the main lake some of the bays are actually somewhat clear. In those spots you can pretty much get away with whatever you're confident in.
BTW, if you're moving a bunch of fish but not getting them to commit sometimes it pays to think smaller on the Goon. Last time I was there I outfished the guys stuck on DCG's by 5-1, by just using a small Musky Buck. It worked well as a throw back. |
