Posts: 1887 Location: syracuse indiana | hey guy's i have a question, i redid one of my magic makers for my wife.. i stripped it down and foiled it and repainted it with a melal blue shiny paint. and i am putting the eye's back on it.. my question is.. i have these round mirirs that i want to put on the sides for more flash when she glides.. can i put them on before i epoxy coat it or should i just glue them on after.. i was wanting to put them under the coating to keep them on better.. what do you guys think....bill

Will the topcoat stick to the mirror? I'd do a test first to test for adhesion. If you don't the topcoat will chip off there and probably keep going.

Posts: 67 | LoL, I'm currently working on that same idea! The mirrors I'm using are 1/8'' thick. I've bored 1/4'' into the wood. I've applied liquid electrical tape on the back and sides of the mirrors ( hardens to the consistency of rubber to absorb in case of high impact) to prevent shattering. I'm planning on covering the mirrors with etex till they're flush with the rest of the body, and once dry, coat the lure as usual. I suspect I'll need to sand the etex to even out the surface after the first coat on the whole lure. Hopefully, will post pics some time next week. I don't know about you Bill, but this one's got me really excited. s54
