| OK folks, the season opens in early May so what happens if you are out before the season and you catch a muskie? Suppose someone just wants to fish for some pike and they happen to catch a muskie? What gives? Seems like a tough regulation to interpret what say ye? |

Location: The desert | Follow the laws. Don't look for a "loop hole" a warden won't care. Don't fish pike with musky baits. If you catch one, release it immediately. Not really that complicated. |

Location: lake x...where the hell is it? | i understand what your saying about "dont fish pike with musky baits" but last season i got about 30 pike with musky baits. so why wont i use my musky baits if i were to want to fish for pike? if i know they work why use something else. |

| I know many guys, including myself, that like early pike fishing. What I do is throw spinnerbaits and rapalas using a spinning gear outfit with 30 lb braided. The kind of equipment you are using goes a long way with regard to the perception of your intent. |
