This isn’t supposed to happen right? My new Mercury 60 4-strk outboard starts in forward. I also have difficulties finding neutral once already idling. I'm guessing the problem is with the controls, but I’m not sure. The red button I pull when shifting seems to be having the difficulties finding the neutral spot. Will this be a quick fix for the dealer? I’d hate to lose my boat for a long time because I have several fishing trips planned soon.
Thanks for any advice or help

Hey Mike sounds like the dealer did not set up your replacement motor properly even though it's the same MFR each motor's cable needs to be adjusted for that particular motor it soundsd like they just hooked it up and left it at that, TAKE IT BACK make them fix it, I always have room in my boat if you need a fishing fix.

But I am still suprised that it would start in Gear
