I've used bags from different kinds of produce. Then I found some placemats at the dollar tree with a larger hole size (bottom lure) which I really like - similar to the stuff used to line kitchen cabinets and drawers. I'm sure there are many more experienced bait makers here that may have some insight though.

I have bought some mesh fabrics from Wallmart, and online (link below). Also make use of some of the produce items. My favorites are some of the plastic mesh used on the little clementines crates makes great scale mesh. Also have a liner from an old pair of swim trunks that works great.

Collins Cottage for me too. I talked with them back in 2005 when I first started making lures, and she couldn't believe what I wanted the mesh for. She sent me a box of "scraps" that I'm using to this day. They will have my business for as long as I'm making lures.
I also use lots of stuff that I've just found laying around.

Those clementine mesh are awesome. When they get too caked with paint, cool them down and the paint flakes right off and you can use them again.

This stuff is great! Some of the best I have found and it will last a long time and it does not "drag" paint nearly as much as thinner stuff will. I also like it that I can get it in sq. yards at a time. Good stuff.
shhhhh don't tell anyone though, its a secret!

This is the good stuff

Also some other interesting sizes and patterns to pick from:

I use clementine nets from a brand called Jaguar.
Unfortunately, the local dealer has changed the netting now, but I do have for a while.
Other than that, old trout fishing nets, and other nets are nice.
An example of the clementine net:

Pikopath,

Not only does your scaling look great, but your topcoat is absolutely flawless. Are you using Devcon 2T Epoxy or something else?

Surprised how many people are using Clementine mesh. Would be great to find a source that has larger quantity and maybe some different style patterns.

Yake: Thank you
The clementine boxes Ive found do have som variations, but the one on the picture is THE one
On these baits Ive used E-tex. But are now switching over to a swedish brand, called C&W Lure Epoxy. I had my share of bad etex... The first one should just about be dry with their 3rd layer.
