mend-it... best stuff going. It's not a glue but creates a chemical reaction that bonds plastisol. It doesn't harden and you can yank on it and it won't break in the same spot you put it together. Just don't leave the cap off as the MEK will evaporate and it will turn to a gel.

Another vote for Mend It. Just let the lure sit for about an hour and it will be rock solid!

Soft plastic to soft plastic, you can't beat Mend-It, as was already mentioned. But if you're looking to secure a soft plastic tail to a hard plastic body, you'll need something else. The Hawg Seekers glue does a great job if that's the purpose.

I have also found that plastisol to ABS (hard plastic) a good glue is standard Super Glue. If you ever lose an eye off of a rubber swimbait just clean the area with some alcohol and glue a new eye on with Super Glue. Hint, my SuperDs use standard Super Glue for the eyes and when I rip one off it brings some of the plastisol rubber with it. shhhh though, its a company secret!

I have been using super glue but wondered if some of the fisherman's glue like that made by Hawg Seekers would work better. The thing I have found about super glue is the amount you use seems to be critical........too much and it won't set up, too little and there isn't enough grab.

I have used ordinary superglue but it's a lot easier if I use an aktivatorpen first .
Have found a new superglue "Flex gel " but I haven't used it a lot yet .

Is the hawg seeker glue the two part stuff? Glue then spray? Seems kind of weird.

RiverMan, that's the stuff. The spray is just an accelerator that allows the glue to dry almost instantly. It's great for on the water applications when you want to get back and fishing right away. There's really no waiting time for it to dry. It can be a 10 second job.

Mend It. End of story. I've used alot of different glues and bought some mend it in december I figured it was just some over-priced super glue. I was wrong. I have repaired about 12 bulldawgs, 2 shallow invaders, 1 phantom, and about 15 other rubber baits and I have only used about 1/4 of the bottle. The stuff sets up in about 1 minute and you can't pull it apart after about 4 hours. Great stuff!!!

Will the mend-it work from soft plastic to a hard plastic body?

I believe that Mend-it is only meant for soft plastic to soft plastic.

For a soft plastic tail to a wood or hard plastic body plain old industrial strength super glue is about the best there is

personally I think a small soldering iron works better ....for quick on the water fixes go with glue but get yourself a soldering iron and take the time to melt them back together ...lasts longer imo and is a better fix...
I have a battery operated one I keep on the boat and a plug in one in the garage...

A cheaper way is melting it back on. It works really good as long as you dont cook it too much. Its just as strong as Mend-it if you do it right. Make sure you melted both sides and you can't miss a spot then it will be as good as new. Does anyone else do this too?

I do it with a butter knife and a gas stove. It takes 2 guys, one to hold the bait and the other to operate the knife. If you get both sides of the knife hot and then push the bait together and then slide the knife out it works pretty good. You can use Mend-It on the spots that are unfeasable to get a butter knife in.
