If you mount the other transducer on the trolling motor, the only time you will get any sort of overlap/interference is when you are in deep water (probably over 40 feet). With the small cone angles that the transducers have, it takes a long way's down to get there.
For example: Let's say your transducer has a 20 degree cone. At 40 feet deep, you would have a circle on the bottom of the lake that would be just a touch over 7 feet in diameter. Now..put that on a boat that is 17 feet long (short for most of the muskie boats out there now) and it would take almost 60 feet in depth to finally overlap cones. Disclaimer here: These are based upon theoretical numbers and a perfect cone shape going down. Realistically, the cone is probably not perfect, so overlap may happen before a 50 foot depth. Everything here is relative, but for the most part, if you put a transducer on the bow and one on the stern, you probably will never be in such a situation that would have them overlap...at least for casting purposes...but then again, if that is the case, turn one off...
