| The "WE" is a collective group of sportsman at the next Wisconsin DNR Public Hearings. Similar to getting the 40" limit introduced statewide.
The "What" is....
Introduce statewide boating regulation limiting the use of "personal water craft" AKA Jet skis to between the hours of 10am and 5 or 6pm..
I am beyond agrivated...the mosquitos are back and so are the jet skis and most importantly the lack of respect they give fishermen...
Parts of Sawyer Co. (Hayward area) and others have imposed these regulations can we do it state wide and how???
There is enough water for all to enjoy...if they aren't going to conduct themselves in Respectful ways then lets give them limited hours to act like idiots so the fishing public can have some peace and quiet...

| Mark,
On one of the Waukesha area lakes it has a no wake rule from 8:00PM to 10:00 AM. This keeps the personal water craft trafic down, but it takes forever to get from spot to spot. To eliminate personal water craft from time A to time B would be nice but highly unlikly. What if personal water craft users would aks for no fishing between 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM? |

| Here in the land of toxic waste{jersey) we have a lot of no wake areas, so most of the arms and finger parts of the lake stay some what calm ,also we have alot of 9.9 hp. statepark lakes .There seems to be some new laws in the state to protect fisherman ,like jet skies must stay x amount of feet away from all boats.I think your best bet is to push for no wake zones and speed limits, those water skiers and jet skiers love to go fast .

| I too, am alarmed at the amount of "Jet Skiers" that seem to have no regard for other folks, whether they be fishermen or people just out enjoying the lake on a summer day. I do think that educating the bums is the way to go. There are laws that address wakes, comeing close to other craft and shorelines etc. I for one dislike to see anyone lose any rights or priveleges. The next step just may be, speed limits on all lakes, us fishermen and women like to go fast also, horsepower restrictions etc. Could even get to where we as fisherfolk use the lake mon, wed, fri, & sun. and the pleasure boaters get the lake the rest of the week. This has happened in CA. so don't laugh. The best way is to talk to people, explain that it is wrong to zoom around others to closely.Take down their reg. # and don't be afraid to give it to the authorities. But in my humble opinion let's try to get along for the most part and not cost anyone their priveleges because we may be next. If you know what I mean. |

| Perfectly rational, normal human beings seem to have their brains suddenly suddenly freeze solid, or fall out when they get on one of those stupid toys.
Kinda like what happens to nice, normal people when the get on a high performance snowmobile. A jet ski is a snowmobile with no where to go......[:blackeye:] |

| many of the twin cities lakes have no wake laws after a certain time. It seems to work well. Jetskis used to bother me when I lived in WI. After a couple years fishing Minnetonka in the lane mouths between the bays they don't bother me any more. I'll take a jet ski over a thirty five foot pleasure boat at forty miles an hour any day. They make fishing those type spots a real challenge.

| Maybe Fishkopp is on to something: restrict the jet skis to toxic waste ponds! They don't really care what's below them, anyway, as long as they can go fast on it. Seriously, maybe lakes should set aside areas for these craft, with race courses, jumps and all, so they stay away from the rest of us. m |

| As a fellow tonka fisherman, I hear you Brian! A nasty set of wakes snuck up on me and GregM the other day and we were airborn.
Just cast @ their head and they'll get the picture very quickly. If you do hit them they were (by law) too close[] |

| It is not a sure thing the staewide size limit will go throug. There is opposition to it as I think there should be. Too many lakes in our state that would not benifit from it. I have talked to the d.n.r about this. Sure would like to this. I would like to see it on a lake to basis. I am also presenting a plan to the wisconsi coservation congress to try a slot limit on some lakes. I have gotten some good feedback from them. I also have gotten some bad from those who insist a 40 inch limit is best statewide.
I do agree the jet skiers can be a pain and no wake hours are a good way to get around it. Try lake associations on the water you fish. The d.n.r. makes alot of money off them so they have to be carefull not to step on toes. Guess we have to put up with them in most cases.
